Patna High Court is the main judicial institution of the state of Bihar. This court is the highest judicial institution of the state and its headquarters is located in Patna. This court was established on February 3, 1916.

History :- Patna High Court was established under the Government of India Act, 1915. Its first Chief Justice was Sir Edward Myles Impey. This court was inaugurated by the then Viceroy Lord Harding.

Structure :- Patna High Court consists of a Chief Justice and other judges whose number increases or decreases from time to time. Judges are appointed by the President of India.

Jurisdiction :- The jurisdiction of this court extends to all the districts of Bihar state. This court hears various types of cases, including civil, criminal, constitutional and other matters. Various types of petitions can be filed with the High Court such as writ petition, appeal, review petition etc.

Procedures :- Cases are heard in the court in open court, where lawyers present arguments on behalf of their clients. The cases are decided in accordance with the Constitution and laws.
