Candidates applying for Police Constable Recruitment in Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) have to pay the application fee. The application fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs 700/-, while the application fee for SC, ST, and EWS category candidates is Rs 600/-. Age Limit (as on 1st January 2024)

The Age of the candidates applying for Police Constable Recruitment in Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) has been determined differently according to the category. Educational Qualifications

For the recruitment of police constables in the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), candidates must have the following qualifications according to the post:

  • For the post of Constable (Armed/IRP), the candidate must have passed 10th from a recognized board.
  • For the post of Constable (SDRF), the candidate must have passed 10th from a recognized board.
  • For the post of Constable (Executive) Jammu, the candidate must have passed 10th from a recognized board.
  • For the post of Constable (Executive) Kashmir, the candidate must have passed 10th from a recognized board.
  • For the post of Constable (Telecom), the candidate must have passed 12th from a recognized board.
  • For the post of Constable (Photographer), the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Science, have a 6-month computer course, and 2 years of experience in videography/photography.

Physical Standard Test (PST):

For Males:

  • Height: Minimum 5'6"
  • Chest: 32" (unexpanded), 33.5" (expanded)

For Females:

  • Height: Minimum 5'2"

Relaxation:

  • Gorkha Community and Bot Tribe candidates have a relaxation of 2 inches in height.

Physical Endurance Test (PET):

For Males:

  • Long Race: 1600 meters in 6 minutes 30 seconds
  • Pushups: 20 (one cycle of up and down)

For Females:

  • Long Race: 1000 meters in 6 minutes 30 seconds
  • Shot Put (4Kgs): 14.5 feet in three attempts

Selection Process

The selection criteria will include the following stages:

  1. Written Examination: Candidates will have to take a written examination to determine merit. However, candidates possessing NCC certificates will be awarded bonus marks as per the provisions of S.O. 290 dated 20.08.2021.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Based on merit, candidates will undergo the Physical Standard Test (PST), which will be qualifying in nature. The number of candidates selected to appear in the PST will be six times the total number of vacancies to be filled in each category.
  3. Physical Endurance Test (PET): Candidates who qualify the PST will be required to undergo the Physical Endurance Test (PET). The PET will be qualifying in nature.

Written Examination

  • The exam will consist of objective type multiple-choice questions set in English language only.
  • There will be negative marking: 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Reservation

The reservation policy is as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules, and horizontal reservation is applicable as follows:

  • Ex-Servicemen: 6%
  • Women: 15%
  • SPOs: 15%
  • Volunteer Home Guards (VHGs): 4%

Required documents

For the police constable recruitment in the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), candidates must carry, in addition to the Roll Number Card/Slip, at least two recent (not older than 06 months, with the date mentioned) passport size color photographs. Along with this, it is mandatory to bring one original valid photo-ID proof from the following list:

  2. Go to the "Login" button on the homepage and click on "Apply for Various Posts".

  3. Open the online portal by clicking on the link and sign in to complete the registration.

  4. If you are already registered, skip sign-up and enter your username and password to log in.

  5. After login, fill in the required details including personal and educational information of the candidate.

  6. Upload scanned images of residence certificate, matriculation certificate, passport size photograph and signature of the candidate in the online form.

  7. Click on the "Submit" button.

  8. Pay the application fee, if applicable.

  9. Take a print out of the application page for future reference.
