About Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS)
Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) refers to the integrated medical services provided to the military personnel of a country. These services are responsible for ensuring the health and medical readiness of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and other military members, both in peacetime and during operations.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications:
- MBBS/BDS Degree: Candidates must have passed their MBBS/BDS examinations in the first or second attempt only from a recognized institution under the Medical Council of India (MCI)/Dental Council of India (DCI).
- Internship: Candidates must have completed their mandatory rotating internship on or before a specified date.
- Permanent Registration: They must have a permanent registration from any State Medical Council/MCI.
Age Limit:
- For MBBS/BDS Degree Holders: Typically, the upper age limit is around 30-32 years.
- For Postgraduate Degree Holders: The upper age limit might be extended to around 35 years, depending on the year of the recruitment drive.
Selection Process & Vacancies
Written Examination:
- A written test may be conducted, focusing on subjects relevant to medical education and practice.
- The syllabus generally covers various medical subjects taught during MBBS/BDS courses.
Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates from the written test are called for an interview.
- The interview panel consists of senior officers from the AFMS and experts in the medical field.
- Candidates are assessed on their medical knowledge, clinical skills, and suitability for a career in the Armed Forces.
Medical Examination:
- Candidates who clear the interview are subjected to a medical examination.
- The medical standards are stringent, aiming to ensure that candidates are physically and mentally fit for service in the Armed Forces.

- Candidates must apply online through the official recruitment portal of the AFMS or the Indian Army.
- They need to register, fill in their personal and educational details, and upload the required documents.
- Application fee payment is also done online.

- The application fee for the recruitment process is ₹200, applicable to all candidates regardless of their category. The fee can be paid using various online payment methods, such as debit card, credit card, net banking, or any other provided payment gateway.
