Important Information for RRC SR Recruitment

Southern Railway (SR) and the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) have released the official notification for the recruitment of various apprentice positions for the year 2024. A total of 2,438 positions are included in this recruitment drive. The online application process will begin on July 22, 2024, and candidates can apply online until August 12, 2024. Important Dates 

Application Fee

Candidates applying for Southern Railway (SR) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) will have to pay an application fee. General, OBC and EWS category candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs.100/-. However, no fee will be charged from SC, ST and disabled category candidates as well as female candidates from all categories. The examination fee has to be paid through online mode, and candidates can deposit it through debit card, credit card or net banking by the specified date.

Age Limit (as of July 22, 2024)

Southern Railway (SR) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) have set the minimum age of candidates applying for Apprentice posts as 15 years and maximum age as 24 years. The maximum age for freshers will be 22 years. The age of the candidates will be calculated as on 22 July 2024, and age relaxation will be provided as per government rules.

Freshers Category: 85 Posts

Ex-ITI & MLT Category: 2353 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

Southern Railway (SR) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) have prescribed the following qualifications for the Apprentice posts. A different qualification has been prescribed for freshers, while different qualifications are required for Ex-ITI and MLT categories. These details are explained in the table below.

For Freshers

• Candidates who have passed their Class 10th Examination from any recognized board in India with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for this recruitment.

For Ex-ITI

• Candidates who have passed their Class 10th Examination from any recognized board in India and possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade are eligible for this recruitment.

Mode of Selection

Southern Railway (SR) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) have prescribed the selection procedure for recruitment of Apprentice posts, which will be based on the merit list of all the candidates who have applied under the notification. This merit list will be prepared by giving equal weightage to the average of marks obtained in Matriculation (which should have minimum 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examination.
